Ilkley Harriers Training

Ilkley Harriers offers a program of training for its members (prospective members may try out Tuesday night training before they join).
In general all the sessions here are for senior members of Ilkley Harriers. Junior training sessions are descibed on the junior site. But Monday circuit training and Pete's Thursday session are open to Junior Ilkley Harriers aged 15+. And there is a special "transition" group for 15+ runners on a Tuesday night, too.

On Tuesday evenings, the main club night, we meet in the bar at Ilkley Lawn Tennis & Squash Club at 7pm, when training is preceded by announcements of race results and future events. Splendid changing and shower facilities are available. A variety of training runs and sessions is informally organised each evening to cater for a range of abilities, on the roads (and, in the lighter months, on the paths and moors above Ilkley). Experienced runners lead each group and typically there would be groups doing a long, steady run; a shorter run suitable for beginners; and either a hill or fartlek session.
There is also a social meeting in the bar after the run (food is available if ordered before your run).

On Thursdays we offer interval training on Ilkley Moor (below White Wells) with Pete Shields ...

Alternatively, coach Andy Wolfenden is leading a track session at Greenhead School, Keighley ...

On Saturday mornings there are some well-established groups. Also Ewan started a new road session from September:
The Beamsley Bash. (For more info or confirmation of participation contact Terry Lonergan on 603913.)

The Sunday morning runs are very informal (see jokey news article) - groups of varying paces enjoy a long (1.5-2.5 hours), steady run across the country and on the moors, starting promptly at 9.30
There will be occasional 'away runs' at other venues too.

There are other informal groups training throughout the week, too, see newsletter or noticeboard for details.
