This is a challenging uphill-only race. The course will be fully marshalled on the day: these notes are mainly for those who wish to recce the route. The race starts at the cattle-grid on Wells Road, as indicated on the map. Run on the road, under marshals' directions, for about 400m gently uphill. At A, turn sharp left onto a wide stony track to White Wells, climbing more steeply in places. At the stone building (formerly toilets) stay on the main track in front of the building to point B, where the track turns sharp right between the building and the main White Wells buildings to C, then narrows and becomes steeper initially. The track is now rougher and muddy in places but mainly wide. Stay on the main track as directed at D. The path climbs to the West end of Rocky Valley E. The path then climbs very steeply up narrow "stone steps", before easing off again to the cairn F. Continue straight on (South) on a gentler gradient. After crossing the stream at Gill Head continue along the path to the Finish, where the wooden "duck boards" start.
