West Yorkshire Cross-Country, Nunroyd Park, Guiseley - Sun 4th December

Click for photos

This was the final race in this league and it was a true Cross-Country experience with ankle deep mud and very testing courses. We had 11 Junior Harriers running, but pride of place in this report is given to the U15 Girls who on the day gained 2nd place ensuring them a third team place overall. Out of a field of 32 runners Jenny Dybeck was 7th in 21.26, Ruth Kitchen 8th in 21.53 and Catherine Gibbons 11th in 22.28. It has been a pleasure to watch this trio go from strength to strength throughout the season and their bronze medals were just reward for all their efforts. We had two finishers in the U13 Girls - Emily Kerr 31st in 14.40 and Celine Cheshire in 15.45. Although we did not have a team placing at this race, the team finished 8th overall in the league. In the U15 Boys Danny Elliott was our sole runner finishing in 31st place in 32.47. Our U17 Boys have had to compete against more experienced runners, however they have represented the club well and credit must be given to their commitment to the team. James Wardman was 25th in 26.28, Daniel Roebuck 26th in 27.07 and Simon Chapman 27th in 29.51. This gave the boys a 4th team position. We would like to thank all the Junior Harriers who have competed in any of the races because it has been brilliant to see Ilkley represented in both junior and senior competitions.
